Mattress Removal Randwick — Student Moves and Walk-Ups, Flat $80
Updated
Share
Mattress removal in Randwick is a flat $80, any size, any condition — collected from kerbside only. Randwick runs on a student calendar, and the mattress turnover follows it exactly.
The UNSW cycle
UNSW sits in the middle of the suburb, and its terms drive our busiest weeks here. Late February and late June to July are the peaks, when share houses reshuffle and international students arrive or leave.
The pattern is consistent: a mattress bought cheaply at the start of a degree, used for a year or two, and abandoned at the end of a lease because it won't fit in a car and nobody wants to buy it second-hand.
If you're moving out of a Randwick share house, book a Monday–Friday pickup for a few days before your final inspection. Anything left behind comes out of the bond at the agent's contractor rate, which is reliably more than $80. Full end-of-lease guide.
Walk-ups everywhere
Randwick, Kingsford and Kensington are dominated by three-storey red-brick blocks with no lift, a single stairwell and a half-landing that everything has to be turned on. Arrange any help you need to bring the mattress to kerbside before collection. We do not collect from inside apartments or carry items down stairs.
Parking is tighter than people expect, particularly around the hospital precinct and on race days at Royal Randwick. Weekday mornings are easiest.
Randwick City Council rules
Randwick City Council runs booked bulky collections with annual limits. Items may only go on the nature strip once you've booked a date — anything else is illegal dumping and fineable, and it's actively enforced given how much gets dumped around student housing each semester.
If you're a tenant in a strata block, you generally can't make that booking yourself — it goes through the owners corporation. Which is exactly why most Randwick renters book a private pickup instead. More on council rules.
What it costs
$80 flat per mattress, any size, any condition including stained or damaged. Share houses commonly book three or four at once — $80 each, one trip, easy to split.
