Collection is kerbside only. Please arrange for your items to be outside at the kerbside before pickup. Collections run Monday to Friday, 6am–4pm.
Mattress removal in Marrickville is a flat $80, any size, any condition. It's one of our most frequent Inner West stops, partly because of the share-house density and partly because Marrickville's building stock is unusually varied — no two jobs look the same.
Preparing for pickup from different building types
- Semis and California bungalows. The bulk of the suburb. Usually ground floor or a single simple stair, side access down the driveway. The easy version.
- Warehouse and factory conversions. Marrickville's industrial past left a lot of these, particularly around Sydenham and the Illawarra Road corridor. Often a single narrow stair, sometimes a mezzanine bedroom, occasionally a small original goods lift.
- Newer apartment blocks along Marrickville Road and near the station — standard lift and access rules, and worth checking whether your building requires a booking.
Whichever building you live in, please arrange for your mattress to be safely placed outside at the kerbside before pickup. We do not collect from inside homes or carry items down stairs.
Why the turnover
Marrickville has one of the higher renter proportions in the Inner West, and a long-established share-house culture. Rooms change hands constantly, and mattresses rarely move with their owners. February and July are busiest, following the university calendar, with a second wave through December.
Street access
Most Marrickville streets are narrow with parking on both sides, and many properties have no off-street parking at all. Where there's a rear lane or a driveway, mention it — it usually makes the job faster. Weekday mornings are easier than weekend afternoons.
Inner West Council rules
Marrickville is part of Inner West Council. Items may only be placed on the nature strip once you have booked a bulky collection for a specific date. Anything else is illegal dumping and fineable.
Collections are capped per household per year, and renters often find the property's allocation has already been used. In a strata block the booking generally has to come from the owners corporation, not a tenant. More on council collections.
What it costs
$80 flat per mattress, single to super king, any condition including stained or damaged. Kerbside collection, no size surcharge, no call-out fee. Several at once is $80 each in one trip — the usual share-house arrangement.
Old fridge going at the same time? From $80 ($150 for a large one) in the same visit.

Frequently asked questions
My bedroom is a mezzanine in a warehouse conversion. Is that a problem?
Please arrange for the mattress to be safely moved from the mezzanine and placed outside at the kerbside before pickup. Our team does not carry items down stairs.
There's nowhere to park on my street.
Normal for Marrickville. We plan around it — just flag any loading zone or rear lane you know of.
Do you charge extra for a king?
No. $80 whatever the size.
Can you come same-day?
Often on weekdays, if you book before noon.
