Chest freezer defrosting in a Penrith garage before collection

Fridge Removal Penrith & the Far West — From $80

Updated

Fridge and freezer removal across Penrith and the far west starts at $80 — the same price we charge in Bondi. No distance surcharge. Jobs out here are usually scheduled a day or two ahead rather than same-day, since Penrith is the outer edge of our run from Bankstown.

The garage fridge works hardest out here

Penrith regularly runs several degrees hotter than coastal Sydney in summer, and it holds some of the highest temperatures recorded in the metropolitan area. An uninsulated garage with a roller door and a metal roof compounds that considerably.

A fridge doesn't create cold — it moves heat from inside the box to outside it. The hotter the room, the longer the compressor runs and the more power it draws. An old second fridge in a Penrith garage is genuinely one of the more expensive appliances in Western Sydney, plausibly $300–$400 a year.

The test: unplug it for two weeks. If nobody notices, that's your answer. Full breakdown of the maths.

Chest freezers too

Common out here, and worse on the same arithmetic — freezers run colder and work harder. Same pricing as a fridge ($80 small–medium, $150 large), same trip.

Defrost it a full day ahead, prop the lid, put towels down, and bail out the well before pickup. A chest freezer can hold several litres of meltwater, and an undefrosted one leaks across the garage and driveway on the way out. More on chest freezers.

Access is the easy part

Collection is kerbside only. Please arrange for the fridge to be safely placed outside at the kerbside before pickup.

Our team does not collect from inside homes or garages. Arrange suitable help to move a boxed-in fridge safely outside before pickup.

Penrith City Council rules

Penrith City Council runs booked bulky collections with annual limits per household. Items may only go on the nature strip once you've booked a specific collection date. Anything else is illegal dumping and it's fineable.

Enforcement is taken seriously across Western Sydney, and Penrith has significant rural-fringe areas where dumping is a persistent problem and monitoring is active.

Most councils that accept fridges also require the doors removed or taped for child safety. We don't. And the bigger reason to book properly remains the refrigerant, which must be recovered by a licensed handler before the unit is crushed. The full process.

What we take

Fridges, bar fridges, wine fridges, upright freezers and chest freezers — $80 for a small–medium unit, $150 for a large one, working or not, any age. Two or three in one trip are simply priced per unit.

A washing machine or an old TV can go in the same trip. We don't take dryers, dishwashers, ovens or air conditioners.

Bundle it while we're out

Given the distance, it makes sense to do everything in one visit:

Nearby suburbs we cover

Frequently asked questions

Is it more expensive out here?

No. $80 for small–medium, $150 for large — same as anywhere in Sydney.

Can you come same-day?

Sometimes, but usually a day or two ahead for the far west. Collections run Monday to Friday, 6am–4pm. Book early if you're on a deadline.

Do I need to take the doors off?

No — that's a council requirement, not ours.

Can you take three units at once?

Yes — priced per unit ($80 small–medium, $150 large), all in one trip.
