Old second fridge running in a Blacktown garage beside stored boxes

Fridge Removal Blacktown & Mount Druitt — From $80

Updated

Fridge and freezer removal across Blacktown and Mount Druitt starts at $80 — collected from the kerbside, degassed by a licensed handler, and recycled for metal.

Garage fridge country

Western Sydney has the space for a second fridge, and a huge number of households out here have one. Usually an older unit demoted to the garage when the kitchen was updated, running ever since to hold drinks and overflow.

The problem is where it lives. A Blacktown garage in February regularly passes 45°C, and a fridge doesn't create cold — it moves heat out. The hotter the room, the longer the compressor runs. An old unit in those conditions can cost $200 to $400 a year in electricity, often to keep very little cold.

The simple test: unplug it for two weeks. If nobody notices, that answers it. Full breakdown of what it's costing.

Chest freezers too

The other Western Sydney staple. Bought for a bulk meat order and then run at a fraction of capacity for a decade. Freezers run colder than fridges so they work harder, and the hot-garage problem applies doubly.

Priced like fridges — $80 for small–medium, $150 for large — and same trip. More on chest freezers.

Defrost it properly first

  1. Empty and unplug it a full day ahead, especially a freezer
  2. Prop the door or lid open with towels around the base
  3. Bail out the meltwater before pickup day — a chest freezer can hold several litres in the well
  4. Leave the doors on — unlike a council collection, we don't need them removed
  5. Arrange for the fridge to be safely placed outside at the kerbside before pickup

Access is the easy part

Collection is kerbside only. Please arrange for the fridge to be safely moved outside before pickup; our team does not carry from inside homes or garages. We can usually collect within 24–48 hours, often same-day if you book before noon. Collections run Monday to Friday, 6am–4pm.

Why you need a booked collection

Blacktown City Council only permits bulky items on the nature strip once you've booked a collection for a specific date. Illegal dumping is policed hard across Western Sydney, including surveillance in known hotspots, and penalties are substantial.

Beyond the fine, there's the gas. Every fridge and freezer contains refrigerant in a sealed circuit that must be recovered by a licensed handler before the unit is crushed — older units may hold ozone-depleting gases, newer ones hold refrigerants with a heavy warming impact. More on why that matters.

Most councils that do accept fridges also require the doors removed or taped for child safety. We don't.

What we take

Fridges, bar fridges, upright freezers and chest freezers — $80 for a small–medium unit, $150 for a large one, working or not. A washing machine or an old TV can go in the same trip. We don't take dryers, dishwashers, ovens or air conditioners.

While we're there

Mattresses are $80 each in the same visit. And if there's a car that hasn't moved in years, Blacktown is one of our busiest areas for that too.

Nearby suburbs we cover

Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Rooty Hill, Doonside, Seven Hills, Marayong, Quakers Hill, Lalor Park, Kings Park, Woodcroft, Prospect, Glendenning, Plumpton, Whalan and Tregear.

Frequently asked questions

It still works — will you take it?

Yes. Most of what we collect still runs. "Still works" and "worth running" are different questions.

Can you take two or three at once?

Yes — priced per unit ($80 small–medium, $150 large), all in one trip.

Do I need to be home?

No, provided the fridge is outside at the agreed kerbside collection point before pickup.

Do I need to take the doors off?

No — that's a council requirement, not ours.
