Car Removal Blacktown — Running or Not, Towed From Where It Sits
Updated
Share
Blacktown is one of our busiest areas for car removal, and the reason is simple: bigger blocks mean more room to keep a car that stopped running. Down the side of the house, in the back yard, in the garage on blocks — we tow it from wherever it's been sitting.
The car that's been there for years
The typical Blacktown job isn't a recent breakdown. It's a vehicle that failed a rego check five or eight years ago, got parked "until I sort it out", and never moved again. The tarp went on, the grass grew up around it, and now it's part of the landscape.
Those are completely fine to collect. What we need to know is whether it still rolls and steers, and how a truck gets to it — not whether it runs.
It's costing you more than you think
A car sitting on soil for years is leaking. Engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, fuel and air-conditioning refrigerant all end up in the ground it's parked on, which is usually your own yard. Proper depollution captures all of that — here's what actually happens to it.
It's also deteriorating. Every year it sits, the panels rust further, the interior degrades, and the salvageable parts become less salvageable. Whatever it's worth today, it's worth less next year.
What's it worth?
Depends on the vehicle, and we'll tell you before booking anything. Heavy, common models — Commodores, Falcons, Hiluxes, Navaras, Territories — with the engine and catalytic converter still in place are worth the most. Light, stripped, or badly rusted cars are worth less, and some are a removal fee rather than a payment.
Send the rego, or the make, model and year, plus a photo showing the car and how a truck would reach it. How we decide which it is.
Access: the part that actually matters
Tell us:
- Where it sits — driveway, garage, back yard, side of the house
- Whether it rolls and steers
- Gate width if it's behind one
- Whether it's sunk into grass or dirt after years in one spot
- Whether anything is parked in front of it
A car on a flat driveway is a fifteen-minute job. A car in a back yard behind a narrow gate takes different gear — doable, but we'd rather bring it than discover we need it.
The Service NSW steps
If it's still registered: cancel the registration, return the plates, and lodge the notice of disposal. If it hasn't been registered for years there's usually nothing to cancel, but still lodge the disposal notice if it's recorded in your name. Take the plates off before we arrive, take the toll tag, and clear your belongings.
Bring proof of ownership and photo ID. Full guide for unregistered cars.
Blacktown Council won't help with this
Councils never collect vehicles — not in a bulky collection, not ever. An unregistered car left on a street or nature strip can be impounded by Blacktown Council with towing and storage costs charged back to the registered owner.
