Car Removal North Shore & Hornsby — Steep Driveways, Bushland Blocks
Updated

Car removal across the North Shore and Hornsby — running or not, registered or not. The car is rarely the hard part up here. The driveway usually is.
Steep driveways and bushland blocks
North Shore topography is genuinely different from the rest of Sydney. Between Lane Cove and Hornsby you get:
- Steep driveways, sometimes very steep, occasionally with a sharp turn at the bottom
- Split-level and downslope blocks where the garage is well below street level
- Long driveways on larger bushland properties
- Narrow bush lanes with overhanging trees and limited turning space for a truck
- Cars parked on soft ground beside the house that have sunk in over the years
All doable, but they change the equipment and the time. Send a photo showing the car and the route from the street. That single photo prevents nearly every problem up here.
The car under the tarp
The classic North Shore job. A car that stopped being registered years ago, moved to the side of the house or the bottom of the driveway, covered with a tarp, and gradually absorbed into the garden.
Worth knowing: those cars deteriorate faster than people expect. A tarp traps moisture against the paint and panels, so it often accelerates corrosion rather than preventing it. And on a bushland block, leaf litter packed around and under a car holds water permanently.
Whatever it's worth now, it's worth less next year. And a stationary car leaks — engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, fuel and refrigerant all end up in the ground it's sitting on. Proper depollution captures all of that.
Bushfire-prone land
Worth a specific mention in Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby. Many properties here back onto bushland, and an accumulation of stored vehicles, tyres and fuel-containing items adjacent to a house is a genuine hazard consideration. If you're doing bushfire preparation, an unregistered car full of fluids sitting beside the house is a reasonable thing to remove.
What we collect
- Non-starters and cars with no engine
- Unregistered vehicles, however long off the road
- Written-off cars, statutory or repairable
- Fire and flood damaged vehicles
- Cars on flat tyres or up on blocks
- Utes, vans and 4WDs
Will you pay for it?
Depends on the vehicle. Heavy, common models with the engine, gearbox and catalytic converter still fitted are worth the most. We'll tell you which before booking. How that's decided.
The paperwork
Remove the plates, cancel the registration with Service NSW, lodge the notice of disposal, cancel your insurance, remove the toll tag, and empty the car. Have proof of ownership and photo ID ready. Full guide.
