Car Removal Inner West Sydney — Rear Lanes and Tight Streets
Updated
Share
Car removal across the Inner West — running or not, registered or not. The cars here aren't unusual; the streets are. Terrace frontages, no off-street parking, one-way lanes and single-car garages behind narrow rear entries are the standard job.
The Inner West car situation
Most terraces have no driveway, so cars live on the street. Those that do have parking usually have it off a rear lane, in a garage barely wider than the car.
The consequences for a removal:
- Rear lane access is gold. If you have it, tell us — it's usually much faster and avoids the main street entirely.
- A car in a rear-lane garage needs to roll and steer, or it needs to be winched with very little room to work.
- Street parking means we need somewhere to put the truck, on a narrow one-way with cars both sides. Weekday mid-mornings are much easier.
- Resident permit zones cover most of the area.
Send a photo of the car and its surroundings. In this part of Sydney that photo is worth more than any description.
The project car
A specific Inner West pattern: a car bought with the intention of restoring it, parked in a small garage or rear yard, and partly disassembled. Five years later the parts are in boxes and the shell hasn't moved.
We take those. Be honest about what's missing — engine out, gearbox out, no wheels — because it affects both the value and the equipment we bring. Missing major components reduces what it's worth, but it doesn't stop us collecting it. How value is calculated.
If you've got a box of removed parts going too, mention it — sometimes those are worth including.
What we collect
- Non-starters and cars with no engine
- Unregistered vehicles
- Written-off cars
- Fire and flood damaged vehicles
- Cars on flat tyres or on blocks
- Part-stripped project cars
- Vans, utes and 4WDs
Will you pay for it?
Depends on the vehicle — weight, how common the model is, what's still attached, condition and access. We'll tell you which side you're on before the truck is booked, and the number doesn't change on the day. How that works.
The paperwork
Remove the plates, cancel the registration with Service NSW, lodge the notice of disposal, cancel your insurance, take the toll tag out and empty the car. Have proof of ownership and photo ID ready. Full guide.
Councils here won't take a car
The Inner West spans Inner West Council, Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay. None of them collect vehicles — no council does. An unregistered car left on a narrow Inner West street will be reported quickly and can be impounded, with costs charged back to the registered owner.

Frequently asked questions
My car is in a rear-lane garage.
Usually the easiest option — tell us the lane and the garage width.
It's half stripped for a project I never finished.
Completely normal. Tell us what's missing so the quote is right first time.
There's nowhere to park a truck on my street.
Standard here. Weekday mornings are best, and we'll plan the approach.
Does someone need to be home?
Yes — keys and paperwork need a person.
