Three kinds of job down here
Family homes — Miranda, Caringbah, Gymea, Sutherland, Engadine, Menai, Oatley, Mortdale. Often a garage second fridge or chest freezer rather than the kitchen unit. Please arrange for it to be safely placed outside at the kerbside before pickup.
Beachside apartments — Cronulla, Woolooware. Mostly walk-ups with no lift, and the salt air genuinely shortens appliance life. Coastal aerosol corrodes the exposed condenser coils, hinges and compressor housing, so fridges here often fail earlier than the same model inland.
Towers — Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Miranda. Arrange any service lift and building access needed to have the fridge safely moved outside to the kerbside before pickup, following your building’s permitted hours.
The garage chest freezer
The Shire's most common fridge job. Bought for a bulk meat order or a big Christmas, then run near-empty for the next decade in an uninsulated garage that hits 45°C in February.
Freezers run colder than fridges so they work harder, and heat makes it worse. An old one can cost a few hundred dollars a year. More on chest freezers.
Defrost it a full day ahead, prop the lid, put towels down, and bail out the well before pickup — there can be several litres in there.
Council rules
This area spans Sutherland Shire Council and Georges River Council. Both run booked bulky collections with annual limits, and both require items to stay off the nature strip until a booked collection date. Unbooked is illegal dumping and it's fineable.
Most councils that accept fridges require the doors removed or taped for child safety. We don't — leave them on.
The bigger reason to book a proper pickup is the gas. Every fridge and freezer holds refrigerant in a sealed circuit that must be recovered under licence before the unit is crushed. Why that matters.
What we take
Fridges, bar fridges, wine fridges, upright freezers and chest freezers — $80 for a small–medium unit, $150 for a large one, working or not, any age. Two or three in one trip are simply priced per unit.
A washing machine or an old TV can go in the same trip. We don't take dryers, dishwashers, ovens or air conditioners.

Third-floor walk-up in Cronulla?
Collection is kerbside only. Please arrange for the fridge to be safely moved outside before pickup; indoor collection and stair carrying are not included. Collections run Monday to Friday, 6am–4pm.
Do I need to take the doors off?
No — that's a council requirement, not ours.
Can you take a fridge and a mattress together?
Yes — one trip. $80 for the mattress.
