Fridge Removal Manly & the Northern Beaches — From $80

Updated

Fridge and freezer removal across Manly and the Northern Beaches starts at $80 — collected from the kerbside, degassed under licence, and recycled for metal.

Salt air shortens appliance life here

It's a real effect, not folklore. Coastal air carries salt aerosol that corrodes the exposed metal on a fridge — condenser coils at the back, hinges, fasteners and the compressor housing.

Fridges in Manly, Freshwater, Dee Why and Collaroy routinely fail earlier than the same model does inland, and often the cabinet is fine while the mechanicals have gone. That's why a fair number of the units we collect out here aren't especially old.

If you're replacing one, it's worth positioning the new fridge with good airflow behind it and away from a salt-laden through-breeze where you can.

Walk-ups, with a fridge

Much of Manly, Fairlight, Queenscliff and Dee Why is mid-century red-brick: three storeys, no lift, one stairwell, tight landings. A mattress down those stairs is awkward; a fridge is 60 to 100 kilograms of awkward.

Arrange suitable help to move the fridge safely outside to the kerbside before pickup. Our team does not collect from inside buildings or carry items down stairs.

Parking is the main constraint

The Corso and the streets behind the beaches are heavily restricted, resident permit zones cover most of the peninsula, and in summer and on weekends there's often nowhere legal to stop.

Weekday mornings are dramatically easier. If your building has a driveway, garage or loading area, mention it — it can halve the job.

Holiday lets and short stays

The Northern Beaches has a high concentration of short-stay properties, where fridges get replaced more often than in owner-occupied homes. We can do multiple units in a single run — give us the addresses and agreed kerbside collection details, and arrange for all units to be outside before pickup. More for property managers.

Northern Beaches Council rules

Northern Beaches Council runs booked bulky collections with annual limits. Items may only go on the nature strip once you've booked a specific date — anything else is illegal dumping and it's fineable. Most councils that accept fridges require doors removed or taped for child safety.

In a strata block — which covers most of central Manly and Dee Why — the booking generally has to come from the owners corporation rather than a tenant.

The bigger reason to book properly is the refrigerant. Every fridge and freezer holds gas in a sealed circuit that has to be recovered under licence before the unit is crushed. Why that matters.

What we take

Fridges, bar fridges, wine fridges, upright freezers and chest freezers — $80 for a small–medium unit, $150 for a large one, working or not, any age. A washing machine or an old TV can go in the same trip. We don't take dryers, dishwashers, ovens or air conditioners.

Nearby suburbs we cover

Manly, Fairlight, Balgowlah, Queenscliff, Freshwater, Curl Curl, Dee Why, Collaroy, Narrabeen, Brookvale, Seaforth, Clontarf, Warriewood, Mona Vale, Newport and Avalon.

Frequently asked questions

Third floor, no lift — extra charge?

The price is $80 for a small–medium unit or $150 for a large one, collected from the kerbside. Please arrange safe placement outside before pickup; stair carrying is not included.

Do I need to defrost it?

Yes, a day ahead if it's a freezer, and mop up. A wet fridge leaks down the stairwell.

Do you come as far as Avalon?

Yes. Usually scheduled a day or two ahead given the distance from our Bankstown yard.

Best time to book?

Weekday mornings are usually easiest for parking. Collections run Monday to Friday, 6am–4pm.
