Same-Day Pickup in Sydney: How It Works
Updated
Share
Same-day pickup in Sydney comes down to three things: booking early, being reachable, and telling us enough up front that nobody has to guess. Get those right and a mattress or fridge you booked at 9am is usually gone the same afternoon. Get them wrong and it may move to the next available weekday.
How it actually works
- Book or send photos. Mattresses ($80 flat), fridges or freezers (from $80) and e-waste ($80 flat per load) you can book online instantly — no quote needed. Cars get quoted from a couple of photos, usually within the hour.
- We slot you into a run. Trucks work geographic routes, so where you are matters as much as when you booked.
- We confirm a window and let you know when we're close.
- Mattress, fridge and e-waste collection is kerbside only. Please arrange for items to be safely placed outside at the kerbside before pickup.
- It goes to a recycler, not a landfill.
The cut-off, honestly
Book before noon and same-day is usually achievable. Between noon and about 2pm it depends on where you are and how the runs are tracking. After that it's realistically the next available weekday morning — and we'd rather tell you that than take the booking and disappoint you.
We run Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 4:00pm, out of a yard in Bankstown.
What makes a job same-day-able
Not all bookings are equal. Things that help:
- You're near a run we're already doing. Bankstown, Canterbury, the Inner West, Parramatta and the inner south are our densest areas.
- Mattresses, fridges and e-waste are ready outside at the kerbside before pickup.
- The collection point is accessible — not behind a locked gate or blocked by a car.
- You answer your phone. The single most common reason a same-day job slips is that the driver can't reach anyone about access.
- It's a standard item. Mattresses and fridges are quick. Cars need a tow truck, which is a different vehicle and a different schedule.
Things that make it harder: remote outer suburbs late in the day, items still inside apartment towers awaiting arrangements to move them to the kerbside, and jobs where the actual item turns out to be different from what was described.
Fixed price, quoted before we come
The prices don't move on the day:
- Mattress: $80 flat, any size, any condition
- Fridge or freezer: $80 for a small–medium unit, $150 for a large one
- Car: quoted on the vehicle — sometimes we pay you, sometimes it's a removal fee
- Electronics: $80 flat per load (a large TV is $150)
No call-out fee, no fuel levy, no hourly rate, and kerbside collection for mattresses, fridges and e-waste. If we quote it, that's the number.
What to have ready
- Mattress: stripped of bedding and safely placed outside at the kerbside before pickup.
- Fridge or freezer: emptied, defrosted the day before, unplugged. Doors can stay on.
- Car: proof of ownership and photo ID, plates removed, belongings and toll tag out, and someone present to hand over keys.
- E-waste: data wiped and accounts signed out before anything leaves the house.
Do you need to be home?
For mattresses, fridges and freezers — no. Arrange for it to be outside at the agreed kerbside collection point with clear instructions before pickup. Plenty of our jobs are booked by someone at work for a property across the city.
For cars — yes. Someone needs to hand over keys and sign paperwork.
Why this beats the alternatives when you're in a hurry
Council bulky collections are cheap but scheduled — you book a date, and in busy periods it can be weeks out, with the item sitting on the nature strip until then. That's fine if you're planning ahead. It's useless if you've got an inspection Friday or a new fridge landing tomorrow.
Doing it yourself means hiring a ute, finding a second pair of hands, driving to a facility, paying a gate fee, and doing all the lifting twice. For an $80 mattress that maths rarely works.
Frequently asked questions
Can you really come today?
Often, if you book before noon and you're within our regular runs. We'll tell you honestly when you book rather than promising and rescheduling.
What if I need a specific time?
Tell us when you book. We work in windows rather than exact times, but we can usually work around a delivery slot or an inspection.
Is same-day more expensive?
No. Same price either way.
What if I've got several items?
Better — one trip, and each item is still its fixed price. Three mattresses and a fridge is a single booking.
