E-Waste Disposal in Sydney: What to Do With Old Electronics
Share
In NSW it's illegal to put e-waste in your general rubbish bin. Old TVs, computers, phones and appliances must be recycled — you can drop them at a council e-waste centre, use a retailer take-back program, or book a removal service that recycles them for you.
What counts as e-waste?
- TVs, monitors and computers
- Phones, tablets and laptops
- Printers, cables and chargers
- Small appliances and power tools
- Batteries (recycled separately)
How to dispose of e-waste in Sydney
1. Council e-waste drop-off
Most Sydney councils run e-waste drop-off points or collection events. Free, but you transport it yourself and they're not always open when you need them.
2. Retailer take-back
Some electronics retailers take back old devices when you buy new, and there are national programs for TVs and computers.
3. Same-day e-waste removal
The easiest option for bulky or multiple items — we collect from your door and send everything to licensed e-waste recycling.
Why it matters
E-waste contains valuable recoverable materials and hazardous components that shouldn't go to landfill. Recycling it recovers metals and keeps toxins out of the environment — which is the whole point of doing it properly.
